The Homeschool Connection

Programs designed with the homeschooler in mind! Pre-K through 8th grade.

 

Cost:
Parent/Teacher: $2 admission per person / Members Free
Student: $8 per student (Members $5)

Program times are 1pm-3pm unless otherwise noted. Please dress weather appropriate.

What to expect:

  • This multi-age level, naturalist-conducted program with learning opportunities for every age group.
  • Lessons are designed to increase awareness of the wonders of the natural world.
  • The outdoor portion may be a hike and/or game or other all-age inclusive activity to further the lesson of the day.

Feb 8 Eye on Eagles See live Eagles and learn why this animal is our Nation's symbol, along with what makes it such a magnificent creature.
March 14 Awesome Amphibians Get up close with several types of amphibians and learn about metamorphosis and how these slimy critters survive.
April 11 A River runs Through It Study the different Micro and Macro species that live in Illinois' waterways.
June 6 Radical Reptiles Don't miss this opportunity to find out why reptiles have some of the coolest adaptations in the Animal Kingdom! Meet several different types of reptiles and what makes them unique.
July 11 Grazers Galore Herbivores are everywhere including your own backyard! Do field studies on some of our very own 7-foot and 2000 lbs. mammals within the Park!
Aug 8 Wild About Wolves Learn about a real life wolf pack and how they work together and function to survive in the wild.
Sep 12 Precision Predators

Strength, stealth, and smarts help a variety of predators capture their prey. Learn about several different species that live in Illinois.

Oct 10 Creepy Crawlers Time for some of our gooey, slimy, and funny-looking favorite species and why we love them!
Nov 7 Nocturnal Animals There's a whole other world of creatures once the sun goes down. Find out how they have adapted to thrive at night!
