Day Camp Schedule 2011
What are your plans this summer? Why not spend some time with WPSP naturalists and have fun learning about nature!
Ages: 6-11 years
June 27 - July 1, 2011
AM Sessions: 8am-12noon / PM Sessions: 12:30pm-4:30pm
Participants staying all day will eat with the Park's Naturalists and will need to bring a lunch.
Cost: $18/session, members $15
Children are welcome to attend any or all 1/2 day sessions.
Multiple child and multiple session discounts are available.
Monday, June 27 |
AM: Creepy Crawlers - There are more insects in the world than all other animal species combined! They are found all around us and can survive almost anywhere! Join us as we collect and analyze the creepy crawlers surrounding us. We will make wings and antennae to bring out our inner insect. |
PM: Hip on Herps - Get up close and study some of our favorite reptiles and amphibians. Find out why some are slimy, why they shed, hibernate, and have forked tongues! |

Tuesday, June 28 |
AM: Keeper Camp - Want to get behind the scenes and spend time with an animal keeper and see the cool things they get to do all day!? Get hands-on experience and training on how to take care of some of the Wildlife Prairie State Park's animals!

| PM: Tree Tales - Each tree is unique and has a story to tell about where it's from, how it survives, and what kind of life it has had. Learn how we depend on trees to help us survive and even make your own collection of a variety of tree samples and maybe taste test a bit of what trees have to offer! |

Wednesday, June 29
|
AM: Fishing Frenzy - Join us as we explore the world of fishing. In this session you will learn basic fishing safety, fishing rules and regulations, knot tying, fish identification, proper hook baiting, and many more fishing skills. You will also have the chance to catch some of WPSP's very own fish! |
| PM: Dinner or Diner? - If you could spend a day as your favorite animal, would you be the hunter or the hunted? We will even create costumes to fit the part! Learn about the predator and prey relationships of animals in the wild and some of the skills they use to survive. |

Thursday, June 30
|
AM: Going, Going, Gone - Earth has been around for billions of years and has had many fascinating and unbelievable types of animals. We will study bones and tracks to learn about some of the animals of our past, as well as how we can help to prevent the loss of some of our endangered species today.

| PM: Wildlife Safari
- Take a trip to the wildest parts of our Park. Come face to face with a 2,000 pound bison or a 7-foot elk as we journey through the tall grasses of our prairies on our safari shuttle, the Adventure Trek. Don't forget your cameras and safar gear for this one! |

Friday, July 1 |
AM: Grossology -You won't believe how amazingly gross some animals and our own bodies can be! these gross habits are some of the coolest facts and defenses that help animals survive! Join us as we study owl pellets, scat, and more!

| PM: Space Case - What can't be measured, is continuously growing, and takes hundreds of years to see, but surrounds all of earth? OUTER SPACE! Discover planets and learn the stories and myths that surround constellations as we take a journey into the unknown. |
