June 16 - 20      AM Sessions 8 - 12      PM Sessions 12:30-4:30

Participants staying all day will eat with the Park's naturalists and will need to bring a lunch. 

 

Cost: $18/session, members $15
Children are welcome to attend any or all 1/2 day sessions.

Camp Descriptions: 

 

Keeper Camp 

 

 

 

Have you ever wanted to know what an animal keeper does?  This is your chance to experience what it’s like to care for some of the animals at Wildlife Prairies State Park.
 

 Fishing Fun

 

 

 

 

Join us as we explore the world of fishing.  In this session you will learn basic fishing safety, fishing rules and regulations, knot tying, fish identification, proper hook baiting, and many more fishing skills.  You will also have the chance to catch some of WPSP very own fish! 

 

Birding Business 

 

 

 

 

We all see and hear birds everyday, but how much do you really know about them?  This is your chance to learn a little more about our feathered friends.  In this session you will learn what makes a bird a bird and you will get to meet a few of our educational birds.
 

Have a Herptacular Day

 

 

 

In this session we will be talking about Illinois many reptiles and amphibians, which are known as herps.  You will learn about the many different types of reptiles and amphibians and what makes them so different from each other. 

 

Wild About Wildflower 

 

 

 

 

In this session we will explore the exciting world of wildflowers.  We will hike through the park and identify many of the wildflowers that once covered Illinois.  We will also search for the many living creature that rely on wildflowers in order to survive. 

 

Pioneer Life 

 

 

 

Join us as we take a step back into the 1800’s and discover what pioneer life was like.  You will have the chance to visit a pioneer homestead and see some of the animals pioneers used on their homestead. 

 

Industrious Insects

 

 

Insects are everywhere!  In the session we will talk about insects and why they are so important to us. 

 

Fond of Forests 

 

 

In this session you will learn all about the forest world.  We will discuss the importance of trees and even learn a little tree identification.  You’re sure to have a treemendous time!

 

Rocks Rock 

 

 

Join us as we have a rockin’ good time exploring the world of rocks!  We will learn where they come from and what types of rocks are out there. 

 

Remember to Recycle

 

 

Recycling is important, and in this session we will discover why.  We will also talk about ways you can help and all the really cool this we can do with recycled materials.
