The following is a listing of our school programs. The most popular for each grade level is listed first. 

The most popular programs per grade, are marked with a '+'.

 

Pre-K & Kindergarten

Our Sense-sational World  +

    * Our sensational world is an introduction to the senses.   We may know that humans hear with their ears, but what about the grasshopper that hears with it's knees?  Students will learn to use their five senses to observe nature.  Students will come to understand how other animals use their senses to survive in the wild.

The Unhuggables

    * The Unhuggables focuses on animals that are not "cute" or "cuddly", In fact, some of us may even say "YUCK!"   Students will learn the truth about the creepy crawlers and how they came to receive their reputations.

1st & 2nd Grades

 

Amazing Animals  +

    * Amazing Animals focuses on the crazy, mundane, and unusual characteristics of animals. What do humans and cougars have in common?  What makes a bird a bird?  Your students will be able to answer these and many other questions about the animal kingdom after experiencing this program.

Food for All

    * This program is designed to develop an understanding of how plants & animals are connected in food webs, and the need to maintain good biodiversity (variety in life), so there is enough "food for all".


3rd & 4th Grades

Feathered Friends  +

    * Feathered friends brings the bird "close-up".   Learn all about birds, beaks, feathers and feet.  Program focuses on bird characteristics, habitats, adaptations, and migration.

Predators: They're Part of the Picture   +

     Post trip packet

    * From bats that eat hundreds of insects a night to eagles that swoop down to catch fish, Predators are part of the big picture.  Students will take a look at the amazing adaptations predators have to help them catch a meal.   Only a handful of predators live in Illinois, and most of them are in danger.   Students will learn what they can do to help.

Going, Going....

    * Going, Going....Gone?  Students will learn what it means to be threatened, rare, endangered, and extinct.  In Illinois alone, over 500 species of animals & plants are threatened or endangered.  Students will learn what makes these species prone to extinction, and what they can do to help.

7th & 8th Grades

Animal Adaptations    +

    * Students will take a look at the special adaptations animals have and use for their survival.  Animals protect themselves, find shelter, food, and other necessities in many different ways.  Students will learn how animals have adapted in the fight for survival.

Get the Connection?

    * Many Native American cultures have held the earth and all of its creatures in deep respect.  Get the Connection uses Native American storytelling and the words of Chief Seattle to teach that the earth does not belong to us, but that we belong to the earth.
          "Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons and daughters of the earth.  All things are connected like the blood that unites one family.  All things are connected" --Chief Seattle.

8th - High school

Birds of Prey

 

  *  It's one thing to study biology and it's quite another to see the tangible. Right there in front of your students there are birds of prey. Learn about the species and the individual birds. If you have a favorite species, ask us about it and we will probably be able to present it at your program!
